about the kids, read this

It has begun…again!

It’s that time of year! We’re merrily decorating, practicing with the kids, enjoying being inside the nice warm house while it’s frosty and foggy outdoors. It’s less than a month till Christmas and the kids are counting the days till the 1st so they can start their calenders. We’re finally getting the paper model manger scene done, ornaments are coming up in different places around the house and the kids are busy getting ready for our straw project: they pick names out of a hat and whenever they do something nice for that person, they can put a piece of straw in the manger with the goal of it being nice and soft for Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve.

Our first show is next week, so prayers are appreciated!

Quotes for the Day

I want to encourage you that nothing that is worth anything comes without a good deal of hard work. And to accomplish anything worthwhile, you will need to commit yourself to seeing your given task through to the end, regardless of the setbacks you encounter or the length of time the project takes. You must also expect the unexpected. Things may take longer than you realized, or you may find that there are difficulties that you never thought would arise. Despite these, you must persevere.–Thomas Edison

When I think upon my God, my heart is so full of joy that the notes dance and leap from my pen; and since God has given me a cheerful heart, it will be pardoned me that I serve him with a cheerful spirit. — Joseph Haydn

“Christ wants not nibblers of the possible, but grabbers of the impossible, by faith in the omnipotence, fidelity and wisdom of the Almighty Savior who gave the command. Is there a wall in our path? By our God we will leap over it! Are there lions and scorpions in our way? We will trample them under our feet! Does a mountain bar our way? Saying, ‘Be thou removed and cast into the sea,’ we will march on.” –C.T.Studd

Don’t Save it All for Christmas

“Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day”

Celine Dion

Don’t get so busy that you miss
Giving just a little kiss
To the ones you love
Don’t even wait a little while
To give them a little smile
A little is enough

How many people are crying
People are dying…
How many people are asking for love

Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love…

How could you wait another minute
A hug is warmer when you’re in it
And Baby that’s a fact
And saying “I love you’s” always better
Seasons, reasons, they don’t matter
So don’t hold back
How many people in this world
So needful in this world
How many people are praying for love

Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love…

Let all the children know
Everywhere that they go
Their whole life long
Let them know love

Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don’t save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love…
Love…

Sunday

mothersday.gifToday was one of those days I would have loved to just relax. Spend a few hours reading, spending a loooong time meditating, take a hot shower, take some time just for ‘me’ and I felt like cooking. That’s what I would have loved to do. But of course, there’s bedding to be changed, a room to be cleaned, the TRF to be done, email messages to be written (thanks Mama for the brain twister translation work, ha!) and I did get to cook dinner! All in all a mixed day, I got to rest as well, spent nearly 2 hrs in Word, prayer and meditation which was nice, I did get to shower and wash my hair and spend all kinds of fun time with the kids doing art projects, the bedding change became a ‘falling into warm snow’ experience, the room looks nice after doing 2 loads of laundry. Dinner was fun to make, I haven’t made an imitation Mexican meal in a while and it came out surprisingly well, TTL. Now I just need to fit in that ‘me’ time sometime since I’ve finished the TRF 😀

Jordan Jokes

J: Who’s the best babysitter in the Bible?

M: Who?

J: David…he rocked Goliath to sleep!

J: Who’s the best climber in the world?

M: Who?

J: Me!

M: (Trying desperately not to burst into hysterical laughter) Why?

J: Because I’ve been watching Monkey George and learned from him!

some pix…

…to bring life back to this place.

I raided Jo’s laptop for all the November pix he’s taken. There are more from this last weekend, but those will come later. CC is going to update again as well.

We have this tradition of going to the graveyards the day after All Saints Day to see the candles in the evening. It’s always so pretty and though I missed it this year (was at the PEP), it looks like the kids enjoyed themselves.

kidsasd2.jpg

It wasn’t as cold as it has been in years past, but it’s always chilly, visiting after dark like that.

ccspider.jpg

Jo took them to the playground for fun and play (good thing he did, it’s been too cold and wet since then!). This thing is so high, I’ve only attempted it once and didn’t have the guts for it again; the kids think it’s great fun, though.

Cherise tries to get her hammock to go high, like a swing…not sure she really understands the concept of the whole thing.

I can never tell with him if he’s having fun or just scared to death of falling out of the thing!

angkids.jpg

After I got back, we took a day trip up to CK to visit friends. This dear woman made the hats and scarves for the kids when she heard we’d be staying for part of the winter after all. The kids showered her and her husband with hugs and we enjoyed a nice lunch together.

micjortrain.jpg

Mike and Jordan just love this train set, they can be occupied with it for a long time…

kidsbear.jpg

I felt so sorry for the guy who had to wear this mascot all day. It’s so incredibly hot! I heard later that he had a fan inside, but still!

ccsnow.jpg

And then it snowed! It came down for 2 days straight, though it wasn’t cold enough to stay so as soon as it stopped, the snow melted as well. But the kids did have their fun. Looks like someone’s about to get a snowball right in the face!

While us girls were shopping for boots for CC, Jo and Jordan used the time to try on silly hats. I love how his eyes are laughing when he’s really having fun!

Quotes for today

Do you know the beauty of intercession? I have said, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” My loves, now I tell you that greater beauty does not exist than this, that one pour out his heart and soul in intercessory prayer.

Man ‘s greatest power lies in the power of prayer.

Prayer is the opening of a channel from your emptiness to God’s fullness.

Prayer is a connecting link between human needs & Divine resources.

Prayer isn’t a sideline back-up plan should you get in a tight spot. Prayer is the plan.

I don’t require special words, special actions, or special emotions. All that is required is that you come before Me in prayer as someone who is truly desirous of My answe who cares about that request being met, and who is not okay with the situation continuing as it is. Everyone knows what it’s like to really want something and then to be quite persuasive in asking for it. The potential for that kind of supplication lies inside everyone, and that is effort that I expect from you when you are coming before My throne in prayer.

Prayer invokes change and alters situations more than anything else.

“Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.” –Martin Luther

“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” –Patton

prayer request and pic update

We just found out we got the invitation for our visa to India. We could be ready to leave here within the next three weeks except that we’re still short on funds. We’re praying in a miracle. George Mueller, Mother Theresa, and Brother Andrew all depended on prayer alone to bring in the funds they needed. And they needed so much more than we do at this point, but for us, it’s all that’s standing in the way of getting to the field the Lord’s called us to. If you can take some time during your prayer time to send up a request for us, we’d appreciate it.

Lots of people thought CC and Christina were twins and of course we all thought they look adorable!

Please tell me I don’t look like their older sister this time!

Back and busy!

I made it back safely from the PEP on Monday night, thanks to all of you who prayed for me not to miss my train (yeh, I have this love/hate relationship with BP and the train system there:P). The PEP itself was a wonderful experience. I learned that I still have so much to learn, but I feel confident that I can change in the areas I need to in order to be a better parent and teacher. It was great to see old friends, some of whom I’ve known since before I even had kids! There were tearful good-byes as our CP board member here is leaving for other lands and will be missed!

FJWL

I painted a beautiful sunrise this morning; I had you in mind when I did it. I had an early morning breeze follow you; it was one of My ways of reminding you that I’m always with you. The reassuring smile of your loved ones brought joy to your heart; that was Me smiling through them giving you My assurance that I’m pleased with you.

I brought to mind a song of joy and happiness, and it made your spirit light and happy as you hummed it; that was Me reminding you of the great joy I always have in My heart for you. I helped you to accomplish an important task in your work, and I gave you patience to see the job through; that was Me again proving to you that nothing is too little for Me to help you with. A thoughtless word that was spoken didn’t bother you like it usually does, you forgave and forgot; yet again that was Me and My understanding being poured down on you.

There’s really nothing I wouldn’t do for you. There’s no limit to what I would do for you. Nothing is too small for Me. It is often the small and sometimes insignificant things that I know make a world of difference for you and your day, so I’m more than happy to go out of My way to do them for you just to show you I love you. You’re very important to Me and I want you to know that.

See that pretty butterfly? Yet again, another example of how much I love you because I created it for your pleasure, to fill your life with beauty.

I love you.—Jesus
